1943年春，中国共产党筹划召开党的第七次全国代表大会。当时正值抗日战争期间，奋战在全国各地的大会代表，历经艰难险阻，日夜兼程奔赴延安。这个行程长达一年有余。“七大”代表们奔赴延安途中，有着许多悲壮、惊险的感人故事，更有无数八路军指战员、党的各级工作者和许多普通群众，曾为这一庄严的历史使命付出了他们的鲜血和生命。 其中一支八路军小分队奉命护送一位中共“七大”代表前往延安。当他们行至迷宫一般的大峡谷地区时迷失了方向。四周都是黄色的山谷，几乎看不见人，又不知敌人在哪。。Guy Maddin writes, "Tscherkassky has made two films cannibalizing Sidney J.
