伍德全為人樂觀，不務正業，憑著他的小聰明在都市裡打滾。因欠下小旅店三個多月房租，女工林小燕對他其深表同情。伍設計欺騙旅店老闆及一老華僑，事敗，伍悄悄逃離澳門赴港謀生。伍扺港後，結識一失意之國畫家辛極貴，向彼獻計裝死，以騙畫商。事敗，伍與辛又利用另一機會騙得一群顧客及外國遊客。最後，伍捲入「收買騎師」事件中，外圍公司命打手向伍圍毆，幸脫險。伍醒後只見小燕獨伴身旁看護，伍向小燕表白一切，決心改過自新。。国际大都会上海，一栋颇显平凡的公寓内，即将举行一场盛大的婚礼。正所谓天算不如人算，虽然此前经过周密准备，但是几名爱恨纠葛的孽侣乱入，以及各种意想不到的状况，令婚礼朝着难以预见的方向发展。在此之后，公寓正式更名“爱情公寓”，顺理成章迎来了7个来自五湖四海、从事不同职业并且性格各异的青年男女，林宛瑜（赵霁 饰）、陈美嘉（李金铭 饰）、陆展博（金世佳 饰）、吕子乔（孙艺洲 饰）、关谷神奇（王传君 饰）、胡一菲（娄艺潇 饰）和曾小贤（陈赫 饰）。 在接下来的日子里，这几位新新人类恋爱吵架、插科打诨，度过了一个个喧嚣又难忘的日子。爱情的萌芽也在他们的心中蓬勃生长……。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
