一个希腊后裔的德国人Zinos（亚当·布斯多柯斯 Adam Bousdoukos 饰）在汉堡开了间餐厅，名字叫“Soul Kitchen”，最近遭遇了严重的财政危机，入不敷出，难以为继。祸不单行，Zinos还因为一次意外而腰椎间盘突出。而他的情感生活也有麻烦，他的女友Nadine（菲琳·罗根 Pheline Roggan 饰）是一名记者，决定到上海工作。他的弟弟Illias（莫里兹·布雷多 Moritz Bleibtreu 饰）刚从监狱里假释出来，来到Zino的餐厅打工。因为身体问题，Zino只能雇了另外一个厨师Shayn（波热尔·尤内尔 Birol Ünel 饰），但是Shayn做出的新菜，却没有受到老顾客们的欢迎，餐厅的收入每况愈下。而Zinos的女友也决定抛弃他，和一个在上海萍水相逢的人在一起。问题多多的Zinos该如何咸鱼翻生？Soul Ki...。Two sisters living separate lives on different continents are reunited on a Mediterranean Island.
