石头村的寡妇刘兰花经历曲折，与现在的丈夫任老根结婚后，怕任老根再要孩子对自己的残疾孩子黑蛋不好，自作主张去做了节育手术。这引起了任老根的不满，两个人的关系开始僵持起来。恰在此时，镇上要举行运动会，腿有残疾的黑蛋坚持要参加……。Dr. Braun is forbidden to practice medicine because he's a Jew living in Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia. He's old, seems resigned about the fate of the Jews, and even works in the Department of Confiscation of Jewish Property. One day a neighbor asks him to assist a wounded political fugitive. Dr. Braun reluctantly operates to remove the bullet, but warns that plenty of morphine ...。
