大场诚（堂本剛饰）是新来的转校生，第一次考试他就拿了第一，还对班级里的被欺侮者出手相救。诚的“拉风”行为引起了相当一部分人的嫉恨。 班导森田（桜井幸子饰）是一个没什么心眼，爱犯迷糊的老师，她对班里发生的事情完全不知晓，只是叮嘱班长影山留加（堂本光一饰）要好好照顾新来的同学。绝对服从老师的留加决定和小诚做好朋友，他不仅对小诚保护有加，还对其萌生出朦胧的感情。 留加的感情被新见老师（加势大周饰）发现了，其实新见对留加怀有龌龊的念头，心灵极度扭曲的他决定不择手段，对小诚展开疯狂的陷害……。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
